After 18 years on patrol, Officer M. found himself sitting in his cruiser one night with no will to drive home. The weight of every call, every loss, every late shift had finally caught up with him. He reached for his phone almost without thinking and dialed the chaplain. They talked for two hours in the dark parking lot. Today he is back with his family, in counseling, and serving as a peer support volunteer for the very program that saved his life.
